This event, open to all notaries, is dedicated to equipping notaries with the knowledge and tools to combat document fraud, forgery, and identity theft. Mark your calendars for an unforgettable experience on Saturday, October 21st, 2023 at the Best Western Premier Hotel & Suites in Rockville, Maryland.
As someone who understands the importance of notarial acts and the significant impact they have on ensuring the authenticity of documents, I want to extend a personal invitation for you to attend this groundbreaking event. Even if you aren't a notary yourself, but regularly deal with documents that require notarization, this event is a must-attend!
Why should you be here? This event was created due to my own personal experience of being the victim of someone stealing my information to make a counterfeit notary stamp and conduct fraudulent notarizations! It became abundantly clear to me that entities require notaries to verifying signatures and deter fraud, yet there's a glaring lack of education and resources to equip us - because I'm a notary to - with the necessary skills and knowledge to do so.
During this impactful conference, we will explore practical strategies to protect ourselves and our communities from the challenges of document fraud, forgery, and identity theft. Our expert speakers, renowned for their expertise in fraud prevention, will shed light on techniques and best practices that you can immediately implement when providing notary services.
Expect a day filled with informative and interactive sessions. You'll have the chance to connect with like-minded professionals, forge meaningful relationships, and exchange ideas with industry peers. By attending this event, you'll gain the knowledge and confidence needed to safeguard against fraud and elevate the standards of your notarial practice.
With an impressive lineup of expert speakers, we will explore critical topics including signature fraud (also known as forgery). This is particularly crucial in Maryland, as the state has a "signature by proxy" provision that allows a third party to sign on behalf of a signer in the presence of the notary at the direction of the signer.
We will also address issues related to document fraud and altered documents, in addition to elder abuse and financial exploitation by individuals who possess power of attorney and authorized representatives over vulnerable individuals. Our sessions will shed light on notary misconduct, red flags for identity theft and potentially fraudulent transactions (including Remote Online Notarizations), and the ever-relevant topic of deed fraud awareness.
If you're passionate about integrity, safeguarding your community, and bringing awareness to protect yourself and others from fraud and scams, this event is an absolute must-attend! You will leave this event gaining invaluable knowledge and practical strategies to navigate these challenges confidently. Our aim is to empower you to become an alert and informed notary, well-equipped to protect yourself, your clients, and your community.
Not only will you receive an in-depth training experience, but your registration also includes breakfast and lunch, ensuring you're fueled and ready to absorb the valuable insights shared throughout the day. We will close off with an evening happy hour to celebrate receiving my Best of Baltimore 2023 award!
I look forward to welcoming you at this event and igniting a movement of change within our industry!
Happy Stamping!
- Michol
